New in the Hyde Park neighborhood this breakfast and lunch hot spot is run by the owners of beloved Boise restaurant The Wylder. It features English muffin breakfast sandwiches made from their 52 year old sourdough starter also used to make The Wylder’s pizza dough. Expect lots of baked goods, a coffee bar, take out options, and more hardy lunch choices like a brisket sandwich.


Hook and Reel Cajun Seafood & Bar:

This small chain of less than a dozen locations makes it’s first appearance in the Pacific Northwest here in Meridian. You can customize your own seafood boil to be served family style poured across the table after being steamed to your liking or choose from po boy fried oyster sandwiches or hush puppies. There is nothing quite like this elsewhere in Idaho.

A unique gastropub in Meridian offers food lovers some unique offerings like American Wagyu Corn Dog Bites, Heirloom Rainbow Beet Salad, and The (un)Common Burger.


Water Bear:

Mainly a cocktail/tiki bar but serving really great snacks Water Bear hits the mark. Raw oysters, deviled eggs, creative popcorn flavors, and charcuterie help make this lounge a food destination too.


Empanda Club:

This is the 3rd place in Boise where we now have really good empanadas. What makes them unique is that they are baking them instead of frying. Try their traditional, chimichurri chicken or vegan curry.


Umami Avenue:

Not just a food truck….this one is run by a decorated and highly talented chef. Richard Jimenez formerly of Chateau des Fleur and Red Feather is heading out on his own and producing 5 star dining dishes at food truck prices out of his new food truck Umami Avenue.

Toasted is a perfect combination of the toast and vegan trends. Chef and Owner Brad Wegelin makes your order on demand at his new spot adjacent to Guru Donuts on Main Street. Expect much much more than avocado toast as Brad changes up the menu frequently based on his vast culinary creativity.

Open for breakfast and lunch this new fresh and tasty spot on 10th and Main serves up a good selection of breakfast toasts in the morning, coffee, and some great lunch salads and sandwiches. Using local Acme breads and lots of organic ingredients you’ll love this place especially those that work downtown. (closed Sundays)


The Donut + Dog:

This highly decorated Nashville phenomenon opened it’s second location this year in Meridian. It features 20 hour brioche doughnuts that stand about 5 inches high and come with more surprises than you could have imagined possible. At lunch you’ll then be able to enjoy a hot dog selection of such high quality topping combinations you won’t be able to contain your smiles.

Located near the Boise Towne Square mall this spot took a long time to develop and open but now it’s here and it’s pretty amazing. Imagine being able to do some cooking at your own table and enjoying so many Korean meat and veggie items that your table will be covered with a crazy amount of plates and delicious options.


High Note Café:

Ok, so this isn’t a brand new place….but the menu is. This summer the owners killed the old menu and made High Note Café the first ever vegan only restaurant in Boise.


RamaPong:

Located directly in front of the Idaho Capitol Building but below street level this ping pong, ramen, and beer drinking spot is sure to be one of your favorite places to meet up with friends for some late night shenanigans especially once the Boise temps cool off.

Attached to downtown Boise’s Yen Chen, Bei Lounge is space for a tasty craft cocktail or a sampling of Asian inspired small plates. Bibimbap bowls, lettuce wraps, bulgogi tacos, and shrimp crepes will be highlights on the menu sure to get your taste buds working.

Local entrepreneur and gluten-free guru Hilary Lee has created this brand new unique shop in Nampa that is featuring delicious treats, meals and drinks but maybe most importantly is providing co-packing space for other like minded small food producers. Only time will tell how much this concept is able to revolutionize the food world in the Treasure Valley but based on Hilary’s history I’m very excited to see it evolve.

Nampa is now a foodie destination! Holy Cow!, Brick 29, Stella’s Ice Cream, Mesa, Messenger Pizza, and 2C Brewery are all within just a few blocks of each other in downtown Nampa. It makes a date night in Nampa not only necessary but also also in high rotation. Holy Cow! serves up a great selection of gourmet burgers, hand cut fries, tots, and delicious toppings.


Mesa Tacos + Tequila:

The Treasure Valley has been amazingly fortunate in the past year and a half to get 3 amazing new upscale restaurants: Madre, Mesa, and Amano. Mesa in Nampa is treating guests to house made flour tortillas, about a dozen types of a la cart gourmet tacos and a great cocktail and tequila menu in the heart of Nampa quickly developing 1st Street.


Amano:

Amano is brought to you from Chef Salvador Alamilla, the former chef of Boise’s Restaurant Row spot “Eureka!”. It’s a truly an amazing Mexican culinary hot spot out in Caldwell worth of lots of trips from those that live over in Boise.


Chop Shop:

Coming before the end of 2019 will be this new BBQ shop by Chef Kris Ott previously of Fork will feature custom smokers built into the remodeled location and will open up to the popular downtown Caldwell meeting place Indian Creek.
